Recapping ‘Scorpion’ on We Got This Covered

The new TV season is upon us, a time of year filled with anticipation and more likely than not disappointment. Sometimes the shows we look forward to the most fail to deliver, and sometimes we get wholly invested in a show only to have it cancelled on us. From the sounds of things, Scorpion isn’t going to be one of the latter, but it might be one of the former.

Think of Scorpion as The Big Bang Theory meets Mission: Impossible, a herd of nerds are drafted into service by the Department of Homeland Security to combat threats that require their unique intelligence. I caught the pilot at the National Fan Expo, where it was screened in for a fairly packed theater, and it seemed to make a few fans there. The action was pretty great (directed by Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin makes it so), but the character work is a little lacking. That might change as the series develops though.
